HOW TO REGISTER ADMINISTRATORS OR EXECUTORS /EXECUTORIX OF A WILL ON A LAND TITLE IN UGANDA
Governing law: succession Act, RTA, Land Act as Amended CPA and the rules
• Obtain certified copy of authentic Letters of Administration or Probate from court which granted them and the Duplicate Certificate of Title,
• Apply for registration the administrator(s)/executors to registrar of land titles where the land is situated
• On the request letter attach certified copy of Letters of Administration or Probate, two passport photographs and copy of identity card
• Submit the application to the cashier at office of registrar of titles to assess the request and issue bank slips for registration fee.
• Proceed to the bank as advised and pay the registration fee indicated on the bank slip by cashier.
• Return receipts showing payment of Registration fees and the request to the cashier to acknowledge payment of the same.
• Present the full set of original documents including Duplicate Certificate of Title and a photocopy of the same, to the office of Registrar of titles for processing.
• The Photocopy is stamped ‘Received’ and returned to the you for follow up, you should be told when to check.
• The file at land registry is requested for and retrieved from strong room.
• The request is reviewed and approved by registrar who issues instrument number to enter the administrator on the title.
• The entries are made and printed on the title on which the registrar signs
• Checks with the Office of Titles as advised to collect Duplicate Certificate of Title.

approximate cost :registration fee ugx  12,500, in case you engage a lawyer  instruction fee  is about  ugx 1000,000 depending on where the land is situated and other factors
