HOW TO REGISTER COURT ORDER, DECREE OR WARRANT OF ATTACHMENT ON LAND TITLE IN UGANDA
Governing laws include: RTA, LAND ACT as amended, civil procedure Act and the rules.
• Obtain a duly sealed and authentic certified copy of a Court Order or Decree or Warrant of attachment from court.
• Take a duly sealed and authentic certified copy of a Court Order or Decree or Warrant of attachment for assessment at cashier’s office at the office of registrar of land titles.
• Cashier at the office of registrar of land titles indicates how much you are supposed to pay.
• Pick the assessed bank invoice/slips from the Cashier and pay at the bank.
• Present the Court Order or decree or warrant of attachment and Receipt, with a photocopy of the same to cashiers office to acknowledge payment and stamp on your documents
• Present the Court Order or decree or warrant of attachment and Receipt, with a photocopy of the same to the Office of Registrar of Titles for registration of the Court Order or decree or warrant of attachment.
• The photocopy is stamped ‘Received’ and returned to you for follow up; you should be told when to check.
• The file at land registry (white page/original certificate of title) is requested for and retrieved from strong room.
• The documents are reviewed and approved by registrar who issues instrument number to enter the administrator on the title.
• The entries are made and printed on the title on which the registrar signs
• Checks with the Office of Titles as advised to collect Duplicate Certificate of Title.
• Check on the day you were told to confirm entry upon the Register.
• If the entry was made on the register, a copy of the court order, decree or warrant of attachment is returned to you
approximate cost : registration fee ugx 12,500, instruction fee ugx 500,000 and above in case you seek services of transaction lawyer
