HOW TO ACQUIRE A MINERAL DEALER’S LICENSE IN UGANDA.

Laws applicable include,

  1. The constitution of the Republic of Uganda as amended
  2. The mining Act 2003
  3. The mining Regulations 2004
  4. Land Act as amended

The following are the steps one may take to obtain mineral dealer’s license in Uganda.

Choose the kind of minerals you would like to trade/deal in including securing its source.

Mobilizes enough funds, that is working capital and have it ready to be invested.

Secure proof of sufficient working capital from the bank for purposes of attaching on your application for mineral dealer’s license.

Prepare the application for mineral dealer’s license to commissioner of Geological Survey and Mines.

Attach on the application proof of that you in possession of or commands sufficient working capital to ensure the carrying on of his or her business satisfactorily.

Proceed to department of Geological Survey and Mines for assessment for mineral dealer’s license fee and pick payment slip.

Upon getting the payment slip proceed to pay as directed and obtain payment receipt of the same.

Attach the payment receipt on the application for mineral dealer’s license and make photocopies of the same.

Submit the fully completed application for mineral dealer’s license together with the attachment to commissioner of Geological Survey and Mines.

Upon receipt of the application and proof that a person is in possession of or commands sufficient working capital to ensure the carrying on of his or her business satisfactorily, the commissioner will review the application.

If the commissioner of Geological Survey and Mines is satisfied with the application, he or she will prepare the mineral dealer’s license for you.

Check on the day you were told to confirm whether your license is ready and pick it.

This license is for one year and expires every 31stof December.

approximate cost of local dealer   . ugx 3060,000-6060,000 as government fees and instruction fees of ugx 6000,000 .

approximate cost of foreign dealer . USD 1000 -2000 as government fees and instruction fees of USD  2500

Regarding the mineral delear license in Uganda , I have heard that the government had implemented new law from July 2016 that the delear license applicant should deposit 100,000.00 USD in Ugandan investment authority for getting or renewing the mineral delear license in Uganda . Kindly check it and I am waiting for your confirmation.
