- Private mailo land is only found in Buganda and some parts of Bunyoro which form the former lost counties(BUYAGA AND BANGANGAYIZI)
- Land transfer form is an instrument used to transfer ownership of land from the registered proprietor to another person.
- A transfer form is always accompanied with two copies of application for consent forms which the transferee or his lawyer always fills in and sign accordingly for stamp duty assessment.
- Land transfer form in Uganda has spaces already provided for the transferor /registered proprietor and the transferee to fill-in the particulars and append their respective signatures which must be witnessed by a lawyer or a person holding a public office as provided for in the RTA CAP 230.
- When filling in the transfer form for private mailo land, the following must be indicated as provided for on the private mailo certificate of tile being transferred:
- The block number for private mailo
- The plot number
- The county
- The names of the registered proprietor.
- The area in terms of hectares or acreage
- The district where land is situated
- The place/village where land is located
- The names of the registered proprietor, his address and sex
- mobile number
- The consideration of money, if not money specify
- The plot number and block number of the land property being transferred.
- The names of the person whom the title is to be transferred to (it is not on the title)
- The address sex of the transferee, (it is not on the title)
- The Parent’s names of the transferee (it is not on the title)
- The clan name of the transferee (it is not on the title)
- The date of signing(it is not on the title)
- The registered proprietor signs as vendor or transferor
- The person whom the title is being transferred to signs as transferee/purchaser.
- The signing process of the transfer forms must be witnessed by responsible person, most preferably a lawyer by appending his or their signatures and other particulars like name, qualification and address/
- The transferee is supposed to fill in also two copies of application for consent forms for valuation purpose
