Regulations
Under. The registration of persons Act any person desirous of changing his or her names can do so provided it is not vulgar or ridicule any one. - Find a person who has known you for at least 10 years by the name you want to change being a resident of Kenya to swear statutory declaration to that effect .see form 6 of the Regulations to the Act.
- Obtain your ;
- Birth certificate or baptism cards,
- Marriage certificate if marriage,
- Decree absolute or certificate of marriage dissolution if divorced,
- Consent of the spouse if marriage, introduction letter from the area chief,
- Finger print out.
- Two clear passport size photos.
- Identity cards
- Find a lawyer to prepare a deed poll stating the changes you are making in alternative complete form 1 of the regulation to the registration of persons Act
- Sign the deed poll and have it commissioned.
- Take copies of deed poll for assessment of registration fee either.
- Proceed and pay the registration fee as directed.
- File copies of deed poll and payment receipt to registrar of documents/PERSONS at Registrar General ,office of The Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya, you should be advised When to pick your copies.
- Deed poll shall be given file number and forwarded to the Registrar.
- Deed poll shall be reviewed and registered by Registrar.
- UPON REGISTRATION, The Registrar shall then cause the deedpoll to be published in the Kenyan gazette.

Any person desirous of changing his or her names can do so.

Sign the deed poll and have it commissioned by commissioner of OATHS.
Have a copy of deed poll published in either Uganda gazette or any newspaper of wide circulation in Uganda.
Take copies of deed poll for assessment of registration fee either at Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) or DAIMOND TRUST BANK.
Proceed and pay the registration fee as directed.
File both the copies of deed poll and payment receipt to registrar of documents/births and death at URSB, you should be advised When to pick your copies.
Deed poll shall be given file number and forwarded to the registrar.
Deed poll shall be reviewed and registered by registrar.
Cross check with the registrar’s office to pick your registered deed poll on the date you were told check
